What is Procurement and Sourcing?

Procurement and Sourcing are a set of processes that government buyers undertake to find and buy digital products and services.

Objectives

To embed the planning and fairness practices required to support modern digital sourcing in government, to:

Enable government buyers to consider important digital factors that support digital procurements delivering intended outcomes
promote transparency on the expectations for government procurement to support a vibrant, competitive ecosystem of industry sellers providing digital products and services that meet the contemporary needs.

AusTender is the Australian Government’s procurement information system. It provides a central location for the publication of business opportunities, annual procurement plans and contracts that have been awarded by government. AusTender is commonly used to undertake market research. It contains a range of information reports to enable business operators to identify business opportunities and see the types of goods and services that are being provided through existing contracts.

BuyICT is a centralised online platform for government buyers to source digital products and services, find sellers and discover existing government solutions.

Digital Marketplace

The digital marketplaces bring together government buyers and digital sellers in a simple and transparent environment.  It makes the process of sourcing digital products and services easier, faster, and more cost-effective.

Digital Sourcing ClauseBank

The Digital Sourcing ClauseBank is a repository of contract and procurement clauses. The pre-drafted terms in the ClauseBank are designed to help agencies create best-practice commercial agreements with sellers, simplifying the process of contract preparation.

Sustainable device management guide

Mandate: Endorsed

This guide supports non-corporate Commonwealth entities (agencies) to sustainably dispose of devices as part of the end-of-life process for ICT devices. Sustainable disposal of devices supports government’s commitment to minimise waste, promote a circular economy and enable digital inclusion through the reuse of government devices. The guide provides best practices for sustainable retirement or end-of-life management processes for ICT devices (devices), including:

Whole-of-government arrangement for Microsoft products and services

Mandate: Endorsed

Lead agency: Digital Transformation Agency

The Commonwealth has a whole-of-government arrangement with Microsoft to drive efficiencies in procuring Microsoft products and services. All agencies, by default, are enrolled to use the Microsoft product suite, with Microsoft Teams and SharePoint being the primary collaboration tools.
