About the standard

The Standard for accountability sets out:

  • the requirement for government agencies to designate an official, or officials, to be responsible for the implementation of the Policy for responsible use of AI in government in their agency
  • the requirement that each AI use case in scope of the policy has designated accountability
  • the key responsibilities of accountable officials and accountable use case owners
  • how to establish and share the internal use case register.

Applicability

Non-corporate Commonwealth entities must meet this standard. Check the Policy for the responsible use of AI in government for details and exemptions.
